8 Facts with Lessons from the book The Subtle Art of Not giving a f book by Mark Manson

8 Facts with Lessons from The Subtle art of not giving an f Book :

Mark Manson, the author of this book, has done a masterpiece work through this. This book is somehow different from the other non-fiction books as it consists of facts upon facts. And, it is one of the best self-help books that I have ever read. So, if you have not read it yet then you can go for it after finishing this post. And, I am very sure that some important lessons which I am going to discuss, will be liked by you.

#1

Like many of us have been noticed that some motivational speakers give a solution of avoidance to come from any negative experience. But, according to the author, this is not the right way as our mind is not developed for escapism rather it is designed to maintain replace. Let it be simple this time.

Suppose you are going through a break-up in your relationship, then it will not work to forget this thing by just avoiding or saying continuously, ‘I am good and happy.’ Because, here you can only control your conscious mind, not the sub-conscious one as it already knows the real incident.

So, despite the avoidance of such time you should accept this as a reality and cry a little bit (if you want) and move on in life. Otherwise, you will be engaged in that labyrinth.

This point is related to criticism. Many of us don’t like to be criticized or be judged by anyone. But, one thing to remember that we are not perfect, so we will always be criticized by some people. And, the interesting point is that even a filmstar, politician, or any other person of high social status has to face this phase at least once in life.

Take it as an example. Newton was the man who discovered the theory of gravity. But, in the initial days of proving his words, he had come through many criticisms from people. But, he did not give up and today we mainly know his achievements and hardly know about the criticism. So, if you want to get big success, you have to face much criticism from the world.

Here, the author has given a fact which is very true but we become afraid to accept it sometimes. We all think that I am the only one who is facing several problems and everyone seems to be problem-free. But, it is not the case, problems occur in the lives of every man and woman whether he or she is rich or poor.

Because this world is full of problems and so as our life is. The rich people face problems for their riches and the poor people face as they have not enough money and food. So, it is the author’s kind request not to think of yourself as a special problematic person because of having difficulties in life, because we all have some.

At this point, we find great irony. You know we all like to be rich and successful in life. But, the question is how many have that true potential to grab that. And here is the answer also. Everyone wants to be successful in life but not everyone is ready to pay the price In simple words, if you want to be a cricketer, you have to spend more time on the ground in the form of practice. If you want to learn bi-cycle then you have to fall a couple of times. And if you are ready to own the hustle, you are ready to get the success.

The above speech is indirectly emphasizing social media. If we consider its benefits then we might say it now takes minimum time for anyone to find a new friend online. And, the connection seems integrated from country to country. But, if we take a deep look then we see it is nothing but a trap for our productivity.

The arrival of social media has decreased the emotional bandwidth of one’s relationships. In today's times, we generally think of the virtual friend as the real one and always busy to count the likes of our photos. At the same time, we neglect our real friends with whom we grew up. It is our misbelief that all the likers of that photo do admire us in the same way in the real world.

But, it is not the case and you are not a special one to be liked very much. As a result, sometimes we get engaged in these things so deeply that we do not have any such friends in the real world to share our emotions, thoughts, etc. That’s why in today’s times, depression becomes so common to us.

#6

Here the word ‘Pleasure’ signifies entertainment or instant gratification of our senses. And the line is undoubtedly true. Let it be simple with the example of Netflix. Yes, we all know it is a video streaming platform that provides many types of movies and web-series. Someone may think that its primary focus is to entertain us in our leisure time.

But, it is not designed like that. And many people who have started to use this for passing their spare time found ended up binge-watching. Here, it was an example for explaining the concept otherwise there are many video streaming platforms like this.

#7

It is a very true fact that everyone sees the world with his own eyes and beliefs. So, we must focus on our beliefs and give them a positive outlook. Otherwise, in every place, we will be familiar with negativity. So, to maintain a positive life, we must control our thoughts and keep a positive attitude. However, being sad after any harmful incident does not indicate negativity rather it shows only the reaction of previous works as well as taken actions.

#8

It is a universal truth that we all are going to die one day for sure. But, it is our primary nature to avoid this and focus on the present. According to the author, this is an example of Escapism, which is a very bad thing. One’s treatment for this problem is to accept the truth and not to fear it. In the book, the author shared some important events of his life where he was close enough to his death.

And, those incidents helped the author to remove the fear about his death and he started to enjoy his every moment of life very effectively.
