Joseph Murphy’s The Power of Your Subconscious Mind is undoubtedly one of the best self-help books I have ever read. And, today’s article includes 5 Practical Methods from the book, The Power of your subconscious mind. These methods will help you to overcome any problem in your life. So, make sure you read the article to the end. But, first of all, we will discuss a summary of this book. 


Summary: The title of the book makes us curious about the term ‘subconscious mind’. Then we try to think of its actual meaning. So, don’t worry here you find all the genuine information regarding this. 


Our mind is one but by the functions, it can be divided into two sections. The first one is the conscious mind and the other one is the subconscious mind. So, let's see the difference. The conscious mind refers to the authority of your conscious doing of any activity. If you are doing your homework or getting ready to go to school, then it is a conscious activity of your brain. Here you are conscious about your doing or behavior.


But, the opposite happens in the subconscious mind. Here you become less conscious. For example, many habits are the fruits of your subconscious mind. Like, you brush your teeth everyday but somedays you forget about the activity whether you did it or not. But, you did it, and being a habit or a behavior pattern of your subconscious mind, you forget. So, here is the difference. Besides this, the best example of this is the dream, a dream can be only seen through your subconscious mind. 



So, these are the things you should know about the two functions of your brain. But, in the book the author focusses on the subconscious mind and how we can use it as a tool to solve our problems. We have many problems in our day to day life. But, do you know we are the creators of these problems. Yes, because in present whichever problem we are facing now or whatever we are doing now are the effects of our activities or actions in the past. You are in college because you had given the fees of admission and filled up the form. You have reached this part of the article because you have started to read it, right. So, it is true as well as ironic because sometimes we curse God for our present conditions. But, the actual reason behind this, our past activities or behaviors. 


Similarly, the author emphasizes the thinking process of the subconscious mind to create emotion, a thought that leads us to action. He stated that what our thinking of today is, the result of the thoughts of the previous day, month, or years. And in that way, he becomes able to generate new laws to create any thought with the help of our subconscious mind. The thought that will help to make a belief system. And, the belief system will help to create better habits, eliminate the bad ones, and lead to success. 



5 Practical Methods: 


  1. The Visualization Technique: The first method is to visualize anything that you want in a short time as well as a long time. This method is generally used by architects, artists, carpenters, and very often scientists. Finally, they use to visualize their projects in which they work hard and it helps them to produce better outputs. So, if you want to make better grades in exams then try to visualize you are taking the result of ninety percent marks. By this process, you will go to the path of ninety percent marks for sure.
  2. Mental-Movie Method: This method is just similar to the previous one. Here also the main thing is to visualize and create a small movie and see it to accomplish. But, one more thing all you have to do in a sleepy or meditative state, then you ultimately can make it alive. Otherwise, visualizing these types of pictures will seem impossible for your conscious mind. So, make sure you follow it properly. 
  3. The Sleeping Technique: This method can be called as soft sleeping. For this technique, you need to go into a sleepy state but make sure not to sleep. So, in that state, you have to say something in your mind. Suppose, you want to get rid of any bad habit then think like, “I am completely free from this habit. And, now I am blessed.” But make sure you do it through keep in mind at present you are completely free from this. Then, it will only work. So, try this at once. 
  4. The ‘Thank You’ Method: Now, this method is the easiest one among these. This method is nothing but the proper use of prayer. In this technique, all you have to do is to state your mind through prayer. It is like “Thank you, God. I am very grateful to you. I am overcoming this illness quickly. Thanks a lot.” There is a huge role to be grateful for this technique. So, make sure you are doing it right. 
  5. The Affirmative Method: This method is nearly similar to the previous one but something different. Here you have to give positive affirmations into your subconscious mind. Suppose, you want to be a cricketer and you do practice regularly. So, now all you have to do is to say to yourself, “I am acquiring good skills in cricket and unfolding the pathway of success.” As a result, you will ultimately reach the peak of success.
